Rubenstein Graffiti House

With Wendy Jacobs architect and heritage consultant. This home, an end terrace located in the back streets of Brunswick East, underwent a major renovation to bring it into the 21st century. The large outdoor laundry and separate outdoor WC were removed and integrated into the main home. An open-plan dining, living, and kitchen area was added to the north end of the home to maximise the limited north natural light. Externally, the property faces side and rear service roads, which posed as a substantial graffiti risk. To address this, a local graffiti artist was commissioned to create an art piece on these walls, celebrating this form of artistic expression while serving as a natural deterrent to other graffiti.
